The drop in prices that started last week slowed the movement of feeder cattle, as a result, receipts dropped quite a bit. Prices continued to decline early week with Monday auctions mostly $2-6 lower but the big CME rebound that was up nearly the limit pushed feeder cattle prices $2-10 higher on Wednesday. But overall the bulk of the prices were still lower than last week.

Turning to slaughter cows, there were a few big storms and some auctions that did report on the holiday, but the reported test auctions still had 7,600 head which was a good run. Prices were mostly $2-3 dollars lower but a couple auctions in storm areas were steady.
