There was a very big run of feeder cattle at the test auctions with 44,300 head, which was 8,000 head higher than last week and 11,000 head higher than last year. Yearling prices were mostly $2-9 higher, but calf prices were $7-13 higher.

Similarly, there was a very big run of slaughter cows with 13,200 head at the test auctions from Pennsylvania thru Idaho and the Southern Plains. That was 2,000 head higher than last week and even more than that for last year. Slaughter cow prices were $2-5 lower on the heels of this big run and declining cow meat prices.
