What’s new from the shows: You can either buy a workhorse or a fully decked out model, even with air conditioning.

If you thought companies had produced the ultimate utility vehicle and would be turning their attention elsewhere, guess again. Several companies dedicated to producing and selling UTVs, whether they sell other lines of equipment or not, continue to bring out improved models.

Two classes seem to be appearing: those workhorse models with somewhat lower price tags, but still plenty of creature comforts compared to early ATV and UTV models, and premium models that often feature a cab with heater and air conditioning.

It’s a super-competitive industry that keeps track of things like towing capacity, carrying capacity in the bed and other such figures. Whenever a company comes out with a model that sets new industry standards in that category, they’re quick to make sure customers know what that model can do.

John Deere made a splash this year, introducing two new series of UTV models. The HPX series is no slouch when it comes to features, but it’s touted as the workhorse series for the future. Deere’s XUV line also has features that allow it to accomplish lots of work, but it’s the premium model when it comes to creature comfort in the Deere line. The top-of-the-line R model comes with an enclosed cab and air conditioning and heat. Other companies also have models that include a cab with air conditioning and heat.

Textron is a new name in the UTV industry, and the company introduced new models this year. Some of the UTVs in Textron’s lineup were previously on the market under a different name. Farm Progress editors found that the company appears dedicated to producing competitive UTV models that can do the job on a farm or ranch, yet provide plenty of excitement on a ride and drive course as well.
