If you have inherited farmland or may do so in the future, you will want to attend the upcoming two-part online seminar series “So You’ve Inherited a Farm, Now What?”
These free seminars will be held Feb. 19 and Feb. 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. CT. The seminars will cover considerations for land including management, transition and succession planning. Participants will have the opportunity to have their farm inheritance questions answered.
“Inheriting a farm usually brings a number a questions, especially for those who are one or two generations removed from the operation” said Jim Jansen, extension economist. “These seminars will help demystify the process of selling or managing the farm.”
The seminar will answer questions such as, Should I keep the farm or sell it? How do I manage a farm? If leasing, what are key lease provisions? What legal considerations do I have with this decision? And how do we manage family communications and expectations when other family is involved?
Pre-registration is requested. Visit the website: agecon.unl.edu/succession to register and for more information.
