ARDMORE, Okla. — The Noble Research Institute and Cabela’s will co-host a four-part white-tailed deer management seminar series from 6-8 p.m., Thursdays beginning March 8 through March 29, at the Cabela’s located at 12901 Cabela Drive in Fort Worth, Texas.

Each seminar builds on the previous one to provide a comprehensive understanding of white-tailed deer management principles. The first part (March 8) will focus on antler development, selective harvest and effectiveness of culling. Wildlife biologists will provide years of research conducted on deer, and attendees will learn how to grow large-antlered deer.

“Some deer enthusiasts and hunters are interested in large antlers, but there is more to deer management,” said Will Moseley, wildlife and fisheries consultant. “This seminar series will provide key insights into the behavior and biology of deer which helps provide a more complete perspective on the best practices for deer management.”

Following the March 8 seminar, Noble and Cabela’s will host three more seminars.

• Part two (March 15) will focus on quality habitat, habitat requirements and the tools needed to improve your land for white-tailed deer. Wildlife biologists will also discuss research on native deer foods, food plots and feeding habits.
• Part three (March 22) will cover population management and herd improvement.
• Part four (March 29) will be about the importance of research for deer herd management. Wildlife consultants will discuss how diseases can impact deer herds and examine the future of chronic wasting disease in Texas.
