Feeder cattle receipts at the auctions were very big again with over 36,000 head at the test auctions, which was the same as last week but 3000 head over last year. Prices were mixed again but the reverse of last week. Early week sales were lower because of the impact of the Cattle on Feed report placements, then improved mid-week on the heels of the CME rally.

Slaughter cow numbers were very big again with over 11,000 head at our test auctions. Prices were mostly $1-3 lower with the biggest declines in the big ranching areas that are moving a lot more cows. More cows are going to feedlots because of the very big numbers.
