There was a very big of feeder cattle with 55,000 head at the test auctions this past week, and unfortunately, this caused prices to drop more as the week progressed. Early week auctions were $2-6 lower but midweek auctions were mostly $4-12 lower.

Slaughter cow receipts jumped quite a bit compared to last week as all of the auctions were working after two weeks of holidays. Cow prices were mostly $1-3 higher as cow meat prices continue to creep higher after those big fall runs of cows at the auctions were over.
