There was another very big run of feeder cattle this week coming off of deteriorating wheat pastures with big numbers in the 700-900 lbs range cattle. Prices were mostly steady early in the week but midweek prices were weaker as the CME declined and lowered risk management on the feeders going to feedlots, which were the most significant part of the run this week.

Slaughter cow receipts dropped a little with 8,600 head and the prices were either side of steady from $1 lower to $1 higher in most cases. Cow meat prices on Wed were almost totally steady with last week but 90 % trimming which are the largest single product were almost 10 dollars higher than last year.
