Position Title: Executive Director

Position Overview:

The National Center for Beef Excellence (NCBE) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on leader to serve as Executive Director. This position provides strategic and operational leadership for NCBE and its affiliated small beef cattle breed associations. The Executive Director oversees day-to-day operations, manages staff and budgets, delivers exceptional member service, and works closely with industry partners to advance innovation and excellence within the beef cattle industry.

This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to be directly involved in both high-level management and day-to-day administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the NCBE and affiliated breed associations.
  • Work with the Board of Directors to establish and implement strategic goals, budgets, and policies.
  • Oversee and support a small staff, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented workplace.
  • Promote the mission and reputation of NCBE through active participation in industry events and partnerships.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage daily operations including association administration, membership support, and customer service.
  • Handle correspondence, data management, and work processing with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Oversee financial management including budgeting, reporting, and expense tracking for multiple associations.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational bylaws and policies.

Customer Service & Association Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for association members and industry stakeholders.
  • Deliver excellent customer service through timely communication, problem-solving, and support for members and clients.
  • Coordinate events, meetings, and communications to ensure strong member engagement and satisfaction.

Industry Relations & Innovation

  • Represent NCBE within the beef industry and promote collaboration with producers, universities, and allied organizations.
  • Seek out new opportunities for growth, partnerships, and innovation to support the beef industry and NCBE’s mission.
  • Provide consulting and support to breed associations, helping advance programs in genetics, data management, and marketing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the agriculture or livestock industry; beef industry background strongly preferred.
  • Proven management experience, including business operations, staff oversight, and financial administration.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial-minded with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and association management software.
