Inaugural Livestock Field Day to be Held in North Central Kansas

            Make
plans to attend the first ever Stock Growers Field Day on Tuesday, March 26th,
2019.  The event will be highlighted by a
market outlook from CattleFax and by a presentation on increasing production
efficiency from the well-known reproductive physiologist, Dr. Rick
Funston.  The field day, held in Beloit,
Kansas, will be a collaboration from K-State Research and Extension, the Kansas
Livestock Association, and the Kansas Bull Test.

            Barrett
Simon, Livestock Agent for K-State Research and Extension, believes this will
give producers a better chance to not only hear from industry leaders, but to
also take part in conversation with one another.  Simon says that the field day is an effort to
bring industry experts right to North Central Kansas, noting that often times
events of this caliber are held in places like Wichita, Manhattan, or Dodge
City.

            In
addition to the speakers, the program will offer breakout sessions where
attendees can pick and choose which topics apply to them.  This years topics will be a cover crop
producer panel, summer stock water considerations with state specialist, Ron
Graber, and extension beef veterinarian, A.J. Tarpoff, as well as a session on
how commercial cattlemen can utilize EPD’s & genomics more effectively with
Kelli Retallik of Angus Genetics Inc.  More
than thirty agricultural businesses will be on hand in the trade show and bulls
from the Kansas Bull Test will be available for viewing throughout the
afternoon.

you get a plate at the brisket supper and industry social that evening.  Cost to attend is $15.  For more information, or to register, visit www.postrock.ksu.edu.
